Meetings

The Oklahoma City OpenSolaris User's group (OKCOSUG) next meeting will be on Thursday, April 8th at Oklahoma City University. John Robertson, Unix Sr Admin and OKCOSUG Member, will be the featured speaker. The meeting will run from 5:30 to 7:30PM, with light refreshments beginning at 5:00PM.

About our Speaker: 

John Robertson has been working with Solaris systems since 1996 (back in the  solaris 2.5.1 days). He's worked on hardware from a Sparc Center 2000 all  the way to the M4000s. Not only has he worked with the OS, but he's worked on oracle databases, application servers, and IT governance.

Oklahoma City University is located on NW 23rd and Blackwelder. The address is 2501 North Blackwelder, Oklahoma City, Ok 73106. From the north via I-35

Getting to Oklahoma City University from the north via I-35: From Wichita and points north, take I-35 south to the I-44 junction (immediate communities north of Oklahoma City are Guthrie and Edmond). Take I-44 west (right lanes), to the I-235 (Centennial Expressway) interchange. Exit (right) and take I-235 south to downtown (this requires driving under the overpass and taking a cloverleaf up to the right so you are heading southward on the overpass under which you just drove). Continue south to N.W. 23rd Street and exit (right); at the traffic light at the bottom of the exit ramp, turn west (right) toward the university. Take 23rd to McKinley Avenue (past Robinson, Walker, Shartel, Western, Classen, Ellison, Douglass and Brauer ). McKinley is the next street . At McKinley, turn north on to campus. From the northeast

Getting to Oklahoma City University from the northeast: From Tulsa and points northeast, take the Turner Turnpike southwest to Oklahoma City. At the I-35 junction, take I-35 south (left) to the I-44 junction. Take I-44 west (right lanes), to the I-235 (Centennial Expressway) interchange. Exit (right) and take I-235 south to downtown (this requires driving under the overpass and taking a cloverleaf up to the right so you are heading southward on the overpass under which you just drove). Continue south to N.W. 23rd Street and exit (right); at the traffic light at the bottom of the exit ramp, turn west (right) toward the university. Take 23rd to McKinley Avenue (past Robinson, Walker, Shartel, Western, Classen, Ellison, Douglass and Brauer). McKinley is the next street . At McKinley, turn north on to campus. From the northwest

Getting to Oklahoma City University from the northwest: Take Highway 3 southeast to Watonga, at which point you may either take Highway 281 south to I-40 and follow the directions under that listing or continue on Highway 3 through Kingfisher and Okarche to Oklahoma City; eventually Highway 3 becomes the Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City (passing these major streets: Council, Rockwell, MacArthur, Meridian, Portland, Lake Hefner Parkway, and May Avenue). At Pennsylvania Avenue (major landmarks: Penn Square Mall on the left and 50 Penn Place on the right), turn right and drive south past I-44, 39th Street, and 36th Street. At N.W. 30th Street, turn left and head east to McKinley Avenue. Turn right and drive south toward 23rd Street. The campus is on the right (west) side of McKinley. See OCU Campus map link Here. From the south via I-35

Getting to Oklahoma City University from the south via I-35: From Dallas and points south, take I-35 to the I-40 junction (immediate communities south of Oklahoma City are Norman and Moore). At the I-40 junction, do not exit east or west, but take the middle lanes that continue north as I-235 (Centennial Expressway). Go north through downtown to N.W. 23rd Street and exit (right); at the traffic light at the bottom of the exit ramp, be sure to be in the left lane so that you can turn west (left) toward the university. Take 23rd west to McKinley Avenue (past Broadway, Robinson, Walker, Shartel, Western, Classen, Ellison, Douglass and Brauer). McKinley is the next stree. At McKinley, turn north on to campus. From the southeast

Getting to Oklahoma City University from the southeast: Head north or west to either I-40 or I-35, and follow the directions under those listings.

From the southwest

Getting to Oklahoma City University from the southwest: From Lawton and points southwest, take the H.E. Bailey turnpike northeast to Oklahoma City; at I-244, continue north (left lanes) rather than exiting east (right) toward I-35. Continue north to 23rd Street (past the I-40 junction and the 10th Street exit). Exit (right) at N.W. 23rd Street and turn east (right) at the traffic light. Take 23rd east to McKinley Avenue (past May Avenue, Shepherd Mall, and Pennsylvania Avenue). The campus is situated between Penn and McKinley on the West (left) side of the street. Look for the Gold Star Memorial Building's tower as a landmark. At McKinley, turn north on to campus. See OCU Campus map link Here. From the east via I-40

Getting to Oklahoma City University from the east via I-40: From Arkansas and points east, take I-40 west to Oklahoma City (the community immediately east of Oklahoma City is Midwest City, home of Tinker Air Force Base). At the I-35/235 junction, take the exit marked I-235 North to Edmond (right). Go north through downtown to N.W. 23rd Street and exit (right); at the traffic light at the bottom of the exit ramp, be sure to be in the left lane so that you can turn west (left) toward the university. Take 23rd west to McKinley Avenue (past Broadway, Robinson, Walker, Shartel, Western, Classen, Ellison, Douglass and Brauer). McKinley is the next street. At McKinley, turn north on to campus. From the west via I-40

Getting to Oklahoma City University from the west via I-40: From Amarillo and points west, take I-40 east to Oklahoma City (communities immediately east of Oklahoma City are El Reno and Yukon). At the I-44 junction, take the exit (left) reading I-44 East to Tulsa. Continue north to 23rd Street (past the fairgrounds and 10th Street). Exit (right) at N.W. 23rd Street and turn east (right) at the traffic light. Take 23rd east to McKinley Avenue (past May Avenue, Shepherd Mall, and Pennsylvania Avenue).
