New York {Open}Solaris User Group - NYCOSUG 

The 3rd New York {Open}Solaris Community User Group meeting.

The New York OpenSolaris User's Group (NYCOSUG) will be holding it's monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 25 at the Sun offices in midtown, New York City.

You are cordially invited to take part in this event.

The featured topic will be "Virtualisation in OpenSolaris" with our guest speaker Tom Atwood - Group Manager, Systems Marketing Organization. While in New York, Tom will be a panelist at InfoWorld'sVirtualization Executive Forum in NYC. At our OpenSolaris User Group meeting, Tom will discuss processor and system trends and their affects on OpenSolaris. He will also talk about differences in deployment architectures. What are the trends in Vertical, horizontal and vertical scaling and how does that affect OpenSolaris? He will also talk about some virtualization technologies that are available in OpenSolaris and how they are affected by server and processor trends.

Meeting will start at 6pm. We will also be giving out media DVDs so that participants could install an OpenSolaris distribution. SXDE 9/07 release is expected to release soon, it will likely be based on Nevada build 70b and, barring any unexpected changes between now and then, we will be giving out Solaris Express Developer Edition 9/07 DVDs ! Sun is located at 101 Park Avenue, northeast corner of East 40th street and Park Avenue. 2 blocks from the Grand Central Station and subway routes 4, 5, 6. Sun Microsystems, Inc. is located on the 3rd and 4th floors. For after-hours meetings, please sign-in with the security guard in the lobby and proceed to the right-most elevator bank. Upon arrival, check-in at the security desk. Due to the building's security requirements, it might be easier if you've registered prior to the day of the event. Proceed toward the right-most elevator banks, and take a lift up to the 4th floor.
