What is a UKOUG SIG

SIGs • (Special Interest Group).

An event, prepared by the collected efforts of SIG Chairs, UKOUG and Oracle, which exists to provide a platform for User Group members to discuss issues, experiences and concerns with a specific Oracle related technology, product or service.

Each SIG aims to offer the following services:

  • Promote awareness, use of tools, techniques and technologies specific to the topic of that SIG and to encourage best use and practice of the products for maximum return on investment
  • Early announcements from Oracle Corporation on new features, releases, trends and strategies
  • Presentations and demonstrations from Oracle Corporation on new products
  • User experiences
  • Demonstrations from third party vendors on complimentary products and services
  • Support issues and product status / up-dates / de-support from Oracle Support
  • Regular opportunity to discuss issues and concerns with Oracle Corporation, the speakers and other users
  • Workshops for the discussion of 'hot topics'
  • Contributions and feedback to the enhancement process
  • Opportunity to raise, progress and escalate issues/concerns as a group to Oracle’s senior management

In general, SIGs address a specific Oracle topic, the exception being the regional SIGs. These have a wider ranging remit to support the needs of members whose location precludes travelling to the English based SIGs, i.e. Scottish, Irish Applications.
