Getting the Xfce Desktop
The Xfce download center currently has pre-built packages of Xfce 4.4.1 for Solaris Nevada (x86 only).
Instructions
- You should be running at least build 60 of Solaris Nevada.
- Download some or all of the tarballs (ALL\-xfce441_01\-x86.tar contains everything)
- Create a new directory and extract all downloaded tarballs in the newly created directory using tar \-xvf <FILENAME>
- su to root
- cd into the directory where you extracted the tarballs and run the ./install\-xfce script

doug@prae> cd /tmp/xfcetmp
doug@prae> wget http://dlc.sun.com/osol/xfce/downloads/current/x86/ALL\-xfce441~_01\-x86.tar
doug@prae> tar fx ALL-xfce441~_01\-x86.tar
doug@prae> su -
root@prae> cd /tmp/xfcetmp/xfce441~_01
root@prae> ./install-xfce \-\-force \-\-ignore
