SMF Service Management
SMF Service management can be used to monitor, enable or disable services on the local system.

What is the SMF Services: Service Instances Tab Used For?
The SMF Services: Service Instances Tab displays all of the service instances that are available on the system, as well as the state of the instance and the time the service state was last changed. From this tab you can select the list view of all of the service instances or an icon view. In the list view, each service instance can be sorted by the service state, by selecting the arrow icon next to the State heading. Using the buttons on the bottom of the screen, you can select to display all service instances, enabled or unhealthy services, in addition to searching for a particular instance. Any instance name that matches the entered search string is displayed.
From this tab you can monitor many of the properties of each service instance, by selecting the service instance and then clicking on the Properties button.

What is the SMF Services: Service Instances: Properties Button Used For?
The Properties button on the SMF Services: Service Instances Tab can be used to find out information about a selected service instance. First select the service instance in the list or icon view and then click the Properties button to see a name for the service instance, as well as the FMRI. You can select one of the following information screens:

  • Status — provides a short overview of the service, status information and the ability to enable or disable the service
  • Dependencies — show a list of the services that this service instance is dependent on, as well as the service type and state

What is the SMF Services: Services Tab Used For?
The SMF Services: Services Tab displays all of the services that are available on the system. This screen can be used to get information about services that are not configured with service instances. From this tab you can select the list view of all of the services or an icon view. In the list view, the entries can be sorted alphabetically, in either ascending or descending order, by selecting the arrow icon next to the Name heading. Using the buttons on the bottom of the screen, you can select to display all services, services with or without instances, in addition to searching for a particular service. Any instance name that matches the entered search string is displayed.

What is the SMF Services: Services: Properties Button Used For?
The Properties button on the SMF Services: Service Tab can be used to find out information about a selected service.
