Introduction

Visual Panels delivers easy-to-use single-system configuration for OpenSolaris.  It is architected to enable seamless remote configuration and reuse of components by other configuration interfaces.

Goals

• Deliver usable configuration UIs to the desktop
  • Tools that fit in with the desktop
  • Tools that identify problems and guide the desktop user to their resolution
• Support remote configuration with Visual Panels UIs
• Provide APIs for third parties to create their own panels
• Enable alternate configuration interfaces
• Drive improvements in OpenSolaris software configuration
