Technical Content Related to Kernel Virtual Memory Management

[Some day virtual memory will have a better home, but for now since there is no kernel or VM project/community I'm bringing some existing documents into the open here.]

Multiple Page Size Support

MPSS is the marketing name of support for superpages in the kernel, as well as all of the user interfaces and libraries which are used to observe and control the use of large pages by applications.

Presentations

An MPSS overview presentation (StarOffice 7, PDF) created for the April 2006 Austin OpenSolaris user group meeting.

Auto-MPSS: Out of Box large pages

Auto-large page support (aka OOB large pages) is a policy which layers onto the existing MPSS mechanisms provided by the kernel. The design document describing the considerations which were built into the OOB policy is now available for review and comment. Please send comments/questions to opensolaris-code.
