Layer 2 Filtering
Firewalls like IPFilter working on layer 3 are incapable of intercepting
guest domain packets in a virtualized environment (such as xVM guest
domains or exclusive zones), layer 2 filtering project closes this gap
by providing additional hooks in MAC layer and leveraging Solaris IPFilter
to utilize these hooks, thus gives administrators the ability to enforce
security policies for virtual machines.
