The OpenSolaris Desktop is a secure and comprehensive enterprise desktop software solution for Solaris that combines the best of open source innovation from various communities such as GNOME, and Firefox. This ongoing project tracks these upstream communities, and their release cycles to provide a build environment and binary packages for the next generation desktop in future releases of Solaris.
Download, Install and Run!
Unfortunately, binary development builds are currently not available. We're working on providing these again as soon as possible.
You can get the sources for all of the components in the repository from the Sun download center, here.
Help!
If you have difficulties installing or using OSD, please send feedback to desktop-discuss[at]opensolaris[dot]org. Alternatively, hop onto irc.freenode.net and join us in #opensolaris. If you would like to file a bug, go to http://defect.opensolaris.org, and provide details of the problems you are experiencing.
Note on Naming
OpenSolaris Desktop was previously referred to as the Java Desktop System (JDS). If you see references to JDS on these project pages, you can assume they refer to OSD.
