Indiana

NOTE: This project is no longer active because OpenSolaris binary distributions are no longer produced.  These pages remain for historical records.  Mailing list archives can be found here.  Forum archives can be found here.  Leaders who ran the project can be found here.  The Indiana Project was sponsored by the Desktop Community Group.

OpenSolaris 2008.11

Project Indiana is working towards creating a binary distribution of an operating system built out of the OpenSolaris source code, called the OpenSolaris Operating System. The distribution is a point of integration for several current projects on OpenSolaris.org, including those to make the installation experience easier, to modernize the look and feel of OpenSolaris on the desktop, and to introduce a network-based package management system into OpenSolaris. The resulting distribution is a Live CD install image, allowing users to try out the experience before they need to install it onto their system.

Aubrey Li from Intel put together a developer startup guide for those starting to develop on the OpenSolaris OS. Check it out!

OpenSolaris 2010.02

We're in the early stages of producing our next release, OpenSolaris 2010.03. Stay tuned!
