The driver was putback'ed into solaris months ago.  It just supports ATI Radeon X800 or below. No more updates.  If you want to try it, just run 

     update_drv -a -i  the-alias-of-your-video-card

I saw some guys in community are still trying to install the old tarball on build 100 or above and cause system not to boot.  So I am removing old notes here.

 Only if your system is old engouth, which means there is no this binary /kernel/drv/radeon,  then you can try installing this tarball.
