Performance Benchmark Links

Here's some links to benchmarks that can be used to test OpenSolaris. These benchmarks will also be available for the community to use in the forthcoming self test facility.

FileBench

FileBench is a new framework for simulating applications on file systems. It's Sun developed, and is currently being used to measure the performance of ZFS, UFS, QFS and NFS. The open source project is at

LibMicro

Netperf

Netperf is a benchmark that can be used to measure the performance of many different types of networking. It provides tests for both unidirecitonal throughput, and end-to-end latency. For further details see the netperf homepage at [](http://www.netperf.org/netperf/NetperfPage.html)

iPerf

nttcp

Apache Bench

X11Bench

X11Bench is used for benchmarking XServer performance. Further details are available at [](http://www.x.org)

LMBench

Bonnie

Bonnie is primarily a harddrive performance benchmark, but can be used to analyse file system performance. Further details are available at [](http://www.textuality.com/bonnie/)

IOZone

IOZone is a filesystem benchmark focused on filesytem areas such as read, write, re-read, re-write, read backwards, read strided, fread, fwrite, random read, pread ,mmap, aio_read, aio_write. Futher details are available at [](http://www.iozone.org/)

Samba Torture

Samba Torture is a benchmark for measuring samba performance. Further details are available on the samba homepage at [](http://www.samba.org)

Slamd

Slamd is a benchmark framework predominantly used for measuring ldap performance, but it can be utilised to measure the performance of any network based application. Further details are available at [](http://www.slamd.com)
