The OpenSolaris Constitution defines several roles for community members including:
The current list of Contributer and Core Contributer grants for the performance
community is available here (via the grants tab):
A Participant can be recognized as a Contributer, or Core Contributers by
others in the community through a nomination and voting process.
Contributers are defined by the constitution as someone the community
recognizes as having "substantively contributed towards the accomplishment
of the communities tasks". In other words, someone who has made a significant
contribution to the community.
Examples of this might include (and are certainly not limited to)
If you know of someone who deserves to be recognized as a contributer, please
take a look at the nomination process (below), and nominate them.
Core Contributers are defined as "active and sustained" contributers. In other
words, someone who actively and regularly contributes to the efforts of the
community. Core contributers have the responsibility of defining and shaping
the efforts of the community, and vote on things like new project sponsorships,
new core contributers, etc. Core contributers are also recognized as voting
members in the broader OpenSolaris community.
Emeritus Contributers are Core Contributers who have voluntarily stepped down
(for example, because they can no longer remain active in the community).
Community participants can be nominated for a Contributer or Core Contributer
grant by sending a nomination to the perf-discuss alias. In our community, Contributer nominations can originate from any of the community participants or contributers. Per section 7.8 of the constitution, core contributer nominations must originate from a current core contributer. To nominate someone, please include in the nomination:
The community will then vote. For our community:
