Subject: Heads up: Virtual Console integration to ON

Hi all,

The integration of
         PSARC/2006/591 Virtual Console
         PSARC/2008/515 Virtual Console Update
         4309501 Need additional local 'terminal'

is the initial integration of virtual console project which provides
limited virtual console functionality to Solaris.

This integration only provides the functionality of switching
between text consoles. The full support of virtual console which
allows switching between X sessions and text consoles via hotkeys
will be provided by following on integration to X server gate.

Not until the full virtual console functionality is ready, the
switching ability will be disabled by default. You can enable it by:

         svcadm enable vtdaemon
         svcadm enable console-login:vt2
         svcadm enable console-login:vt3
         svcadm enable console-login:vt4
         svcadm enable console-login:vt5
         svcadm enable console-login:vt6

Secure switch is enabled by default which means you need to enter
the login user's password if switching to a login-ed session.
For most users, this won't be necessary, so you can disable this
feature by:

         svccfg -s vtdaemon setprop options/secure=false
         svcadm refresh vtdaemon
         svcadm restart vtdaemon

All the bugs should go to solaris/kernel/console.

If you want to try our primary modified Xorg which supports
X session and text console switching, here is the link:

or you can visit our opensolaris project page and download there:
         http://opensolaris.org/os/project/vconsole/Downloads

please follow the instructions in the README file.
