Subject: Heads up: Serial Management Protocol support
If you are not interested in SAS(Serial Attached SCSI) and SAS Zoning
management,
you can probably ignore the mail and delete it now.
My putback of
PSARC 2007/595 Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Management Protocol (SMP)
support for Solaris
6587126 Need smp target driver
provides a way to communicate with SAS expanders through SMP(Serial
Management
Protocol). With the smp(7D) target driver, users can issue SMP requests and
receive SMP responses from user land using the USMP interface. This
allows a
privileged user to configure and manage SAS domains.
In addition, we have enhanced the mpt(7D) SAS HBA driver to automatically
enumerate SMP devices, including hotplug operation.
For more information about SMP support, please refer to the documents
found at
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/arc/caselog/2007/595
The iteam can be contacted via sas at Sun dot COM if you have any further
questions.
