With the integration of:

PSARC 2006/384 SATA AHCI HBA Driver
6261241 AHCI driver is needed for ICH6 and SATA native mode
6418168 AHCI driver is needed for VIA vt8251 and SATA native mode

Ahci driver, which is to support AHCI SATA native mode controllers
on x86 platforms, was putback into onnv build 56. It is another sata
framework-compliant hba driver, and is supposed to support all
devices compliant with AHCI 1.0 specification.

The basic features delivered in the first putback includes:
    * ICH6 and VT8251 chipsets supported
    * Hard drive hot-plugging
    * Cfgadm support for managing SATA device hot-plugging
    * Boot support

The following features are scheduled for the future phase:
    * NCQ
    * ATAPI
    * Power Management
    * FMA
    * Port multiplier
    * Sparc Support

The ahci(7D) man page will be integrated later this week.  Here's a

Bugs against ahci(7D) should be submitted against
solaris/driver/sata. Any questions related to ahci should be send
to SATA-interest at sun dot com alias.
