Subject: Minor Flag Day: Filesystem Driven Device Naming

You can safely ignore this message if you are not doing (cap-eye) Install.

The putback for:

PSARC/2003/246 Filesystem Driven Device Naming
5050715 logical device names not created during early boot
6292952 devfsadm mishandles optarg
6362924 devfsadm secondary link generation is not zones aware
6413127 Integrate the Devname Project
6464196 bfu should remove pt_chmod, obsoleted by /dev filesystem

has implications for (cap-eye) Install detailed below:

Install:
~--------

This change requires that user-land libraries (libdevinfo.so,
libzonecfg.so, and libc.so), devfsadm(1M) command, zoneadm(1M) command,
allocate(1) command, zlogin(1) command, mount(1M) command, and the dev(7FS),
kernel(1M) modules all be synchronized. Therefore use of Install to
install these bits is unsafe. Use of bfu is, as always, a safe way to
install these bits.

Thanks,
Lucy
