If you don't burn CDs or DVDs, you can probably delete this message.

This may be of interest to ON gatelings although the putback was in sfw
gate.

I putback today into sfwnv gate:

PSARC/2005/520 cdrecord and friends into the WOS
6318184 install all binaries in cdrtools

cdrecord, cdda2wav, readcd are now installed in /usr/bin and the man pages
are in /usr/share/man. (mkisofs was already installed).

cdrecord works much better with USB and 1394 burners than cdrw(1) which
is now only
recommended for internal IDE burners. cdrw is in sustaining mode.

Unfortunately, cdrecord can't burn DVDs > 1 GB and you need to download
cdrecord Pro from Schilling's website
(http://195.113.144.229/pub/cdrecord/ProDVD)

and use the cdrecord-wrapper.sh for the key

cdda2wav is one of the best DAE tool. It is CLI only but it allows you
to rip as correct
as possible even from defective media. cdda2wav also allows you to
play CDs.:

    cdda2wav -q -paranoia -e -B -N dev=<device>

it will not write a file but play all tracks to /dev/audio

readcd can read a CD image into a file.

For bugs: solaris/utility/cdrtools

For questions: tamarack-core at sun dot com. Please do not send question to
Joerg Schilling.
