MO added milestone for website transition
schedule for comm project and user group reporting? PT - not yet

2009.008 policy approved on grant renewals, referring to 2009.007 (policy reminding people to read about responsibilities)

VBF has not gotten to in memoriam AI

DS - AI - 2 contrib grants to add (MO documentation, JForte for storage)

presentation from Lynn Rohrer on OpenSolaris Community (and stats)

in response to discussion on dead communities

Plocher - suggests we put slide 2 on site to show real activity - send to website discuss

LR we should figure out a way to automate the metrics - JPlocher - sounds like an AI (but for whom)?

slide 5 - what drove traffic to osarm? announcement and press coverage. Crossbow also got a lift out of recent activity

C1 and release of 2009.06 brought comstar and crossbow numbers up

discussion on ways to capture partnership info

JP good to highlight these contributors

LR Zmanda an example of partner who brings their ecosystem to the party

slide 10 - :? from Lynn: does OGB have regular communication with any of these other distributions?
JP - on personal level, yes

MO - Milax hosts on our site

Chris Bergstrom of OSUNIX - LR asks do we get much back from these distros?
some tech prototyped into Belenix has gone into Indian and OpenSolaris
but our site had no way to host the distribution building stuff

PT - want to keep connected so we don't lose them completely

LR - what other data can we give you that will be helpful in making decisions and setting direction?

JP - we don't have a direction, we're an advisory board rather than governing board

MO - not sure of the answer, but this info helps me think about what kind of data we could use more of

would be helpful to have project data on a per-community basis

e.g. what communities are spawning projects

JW - can we make this more systematic?

LR - would like to automate

JP - recommends Code Swarms http://blogs.sun.com/albertw/entry/opensolaris_code_swarms

JP happy to bounce ideas offline

PT -we're supposed to produce reports (annual). Every group could have a skeleton report with its stats to use as a base, then just fill in highlights

start with omniture report

JP - do this again in 6 mos?
LR - recommend looking at this data quarterly
JP - would like to see trends next time

preso - put up a pdf and announce to ogb discuss

JW - PT & I reviewing website transition, see issues with using constitutional roles

contrib and core contrib - not a good idea to associate with website user rights

We have stated reasons for this (watering down of roles - people have to be contributors to make web changes), no acknowledgement of problem or interest in changing.

JP - structure has been built on top of wrong assumptions, but it's too late to go back and change.

JW - Mike and others all realize that if and when new constitution is ratified, they will have to make changes to user roles, they're already planning to.

JP - Allan is saying it's not possible to change then.

JW - won't wait for a new constitution, this is not required by the constitution

JP uplevel: it is a truth that was a bug that could be filed against it. But should we fix that now or later, what are risks and cost implications of that. And is the OGB the right group to have that prioritization/resource allocation discussion or not? Website team is choosing not to address this now.

JW - confusion of roles between contributors and website editors

JP - [website editors] could be considered a substantial contribution

JP - OGB does not control Tonic resource allocation, or website property. Has no ability to dictate - we're an advisory board, not a governing board. Given the powers we have I'm not sure what we can do in the middle of this web transition, except derail it.

JW - If we don't have power to do anything, we don't have power to derail. We could at least make a constitutional interpretation to clearly state that this is a bug: there's no need to tie the two together.

JP working on new new constitution [DS to JP: please send text you read out]

JW - that's not too bad

JW does constitution tie electorate to these roles?

PT is that true or not? I get conflicting answers

JP what should the OGB do?

JW if website team had said "You're right"... but they're not even saying that. I think we need to make a statement and vote that there is an issue.

JP can you draft a statement?

JW and PT to work on a proposal

request to put inactive communities on top of agenda next time
