DTrace is a comprehensive dynamic tracing framework for OpenSolaris. It provides a powerful infrastructure to permit administrators, developers, and service personnel to concisely answer arbitrary questions about the behavior of the operating system and user programs.
This project proposes to add DTrace probes into the MPI library, leveraging the PERUSE / OTF instrumentation (Vampirtrace) to ultimately allow tracing of key point-to-point communication events at the ClusterTools Point to Point Messaging Layer (PML)
Traceable events will include:
Sun Studio 12 – Includes Sun compilers, Performance Library, and Performance Analyzer. Free to SDN members. Be sure and check out the Sun Studio Technical Articles.
Sun HPC ClusterTools – Sun's MPI based on Open MPI. For Solaris SPARC and x64.
Cool Tools – Free performance-focused software for SPARC and now both SPOT and ATS are available for x86.
Grid Engine open source project
GridEngine.info – community site for Grid Engine open source project.
