Introduction to SCCGnutellaSim

P2P network simulation has become an important and hot research area these decades. Although some software has been developed and widely used for general network simulation, there are no good and special ones that are exactly suitable for P2P network simulation. Nearly all researchers have to develop their own P2P network simulation program for their own researches.

Feature

NS2 is one of the most famous and widely used network simulation platform but it is not customized for P2P. Therefore, we are motivated to develop a kind of P2P network simulation platform that is based on NS2 and specialized for P2P.

Our software SCCGnutellaSim based on NS2, GnuSim which provides a framework for Gnutella Simulation but no detail implementation, implements good simulation for Gnutella Protocol. It simulates the real protocol from the aspects of network booting, dynamic query, and some of file downloading. Experimental results show that our software is efficient and suitable for Gnutella simulation.

Future

In future, we plan to make our software more configurable and convenient so that we can provide researchers a general simulation platform for Peer-to-Peer protocol development.
