Hello ... I'd like to introduce you to the 5th member of the OpenSolaris
Community Advisory Board    Roy Fielding, Ph.D.
 Welcome, Roy!
You can find some background on Roy here: http://roy.gbiv.com/vita.html.
So, your CAB is Casper, Al, Rich, Roy, and Simon. Sun will publically
announce the CAB shortly, so please consider it all NDA. We are also
organizing the CAB's first in-person meeting where they can begin the
process of building a charter and mechanism for interacting with the
 community and Sun.
I'm still working on bringing Roy into the pilot program, but I thought
 you'd all like to know.
I added Roy to this alias, but I also cc'd him since I'm not sure the
system has updated yet. It should be updated by morning, though.

Great choice.  I'm releaved, in fact.  For those involved at Sun, great
work.  And Dr Fielding, thank you for being part of this great project,
we appreicate your service.  Should be a great CAB.

What a well balanced CAB.  We have a wide range of personalities and
career types.  Should make for some interesting split decision votes
 on issues!  emoticon_smile

Well, this an an honor to have someone as legendary as
Roy on the CAB team as I have admired his work for
quite some time - as well as his contributions to the
 Computer Science field.
This must mean that Sun has a seriously vested
interest in OpenSolaris and its success by having such
a fine selection of CAB members.
 Much success!,

Thanks for all the kind words of welcome    I am looking forward
to getting to know the OpenSolaris community and working with the
 other CAB members.
Having spent all of the 1990's on SunOS/Solaris workstations for
work and Apache, I have a bit of experience with prior versions.
However, it will take some time to find a machine to run the current
code and get back up to speed.  In the mean time, I hope to focus on
getting the community beyond the pilot stage to the point where
we can do all of our planning and development in public.
 Cheers,
 Roy T. Fielding

Thanks, Roy. As someone who could paper his office with NDAs, I very
much want to open this baby and work in public. emoticon_smile We all do. Your
guidance is most welcome on this as we get more and more of Sun
involved. There are many organizations across the company that
OpenSolaris will touch and I'd like to get them involved early and
engaging directly with the community before decisions are made.
