What sort of changes need ARC approval?

  • If it impacts the architecture of the system, it should get some sort of architectural review.
  • ARCs review "changes to components", and not "new versions of products". Think dozens of small reviews per component release, not just one big one.
  • One or more reviews per new feature (most could be fasttracks...)
  • If you are creating a new consolidation/component, or are creating a significant new feature, you should submit an umbrella proposal to give context to all the various pieces.
  • New features should have an inception review (or fast-track approval) before significant non-prototype coding begins.
